Le premier jour...

Today our merry bunch met in Sundt to discuss culture, itinerary expectations, living situation. Also, to hear some organ music. We are collectively excited to become tourists in Paris. During January the famous Paris Fashion Week et al. takes place, and faire du shopping will be a turbulent, exciting time! We heard an improvisation by Pierre Cocherau done at Notre Dame (whose organ is out of commission for renovation for the duration of 2012), and sampled Alain, Dandrieu, Franck, Latry, Messiaen, Widor, and James Woodman. Following a full organ passage GP mentioned, "You ain't heard nothin' yet." Certainly the Cavaille-Coll organs in the French style will shine above and beyond our quaint Hendrickson in Sundt.
We have packed amongst us granola bars, Saran wrap, Ziploc bags, and two jars of peanut butter (photo provided). So, at least we won't die if there is famine and lack of food preservation... but these things will make our furnished Paris flat feel homey as soon as we arrive :)
The bus leaves for O'Hare at 9:30 tomorrow morning, so it's 'bon voyage!' for us. The next voice you hear will be coming from la ville lumière!!!
